When my son, now almost 6, was 7 weeks old, I rushed him to the ER after finding him limp as a rag doll after a long night of being sick. On the way, I had to "smack" his cheeks, reaching through the car seats to get to him, in order to shock him into taking another breath. By the time I met our pediatrician at the ER minutes later, his body temp. was down to 92 degrees...he was dying. I have never been more scared or felt more alone in my life. Once stable, he was taken to the pediatric wing and diagnosed with RSV. Later that afternoon, he was then flown, alone, to the local children's hospital where he spent four awful days struggling to survive. Thank God, he made it and is my pride and joy to this day. I cannot tell you that I know how you feel or that I know how it is. I don't. What I do know is that I've been so close...the fear, the anger, the self-questioning. My family and I will pray for you...that you and your family find peace somewhere amidst this dark, unthinkable situation. Our love and prayers are with you...
